Conflict of Interest Policy

All staff, volunteers, and management Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor of Vale Training Services Ltd will strive to avoid any conflict of interest between the interests of the Organization on the one hand, and personal, professional, and business interests on the other. They will also aim to avoid conflict between themselves and trainees or delegates for assessment. This includes avoiding actual conflicts of interest as well as the perception of conflicts of interest.

The purposes of this policy is to protect the integrity of the Organization's decision-making process, to enable our stakeholders to have confidence in our integrity, and to protect the integrity and reputation of volunteers, Member of staff, external tutors, or assessor .

Examples of conflicts of interest include:

1          A Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor who is also a user of the company  who must decide whether fees from users should be increased.

2          A Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor who is related to a delegate and involved in decision to be taken on delegates results or training outcomes.

3          A Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor who is also a Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor of another organisation that is competing for the same funding or working with the same delegate.

4          A Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor who has shares in a business that may be awarded a contract to do work or provide services for the organisation.

5          A Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor who has access to delegates results or training information at any point during the decision making procedures of qualification.

Upon appointment each Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor will make a full, written disclosure of interests, such as relationships, and posts held, that could potentially result in a conflict of interest. This written disclosure will be kept on file and I will be updated as appropriate.

In the course of meetings or activities, Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor will disclose any interests in a transaction or decision where there may be a conflict between the organisations best interests and the Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor members best interests or a conflict between the best interests of two organisations that the Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor members is involved with.

After disclosure, the member of staff, tutor or assessor will  understand that they  will be asked to leave the room / not partake in any discussion and will not be able to take part in the decision making process relating to the incident in question.

Any such disclosure and the subsequent actions taken will be noted in the minutes.

This policy is meant to supplement good judgment, and staff, volunteers and management Member of staff, external tutor, or assessor members should respect its spirit as well as its wording.
